Sir Paul will play a segment of an unheard Beatles track called Just Fun on what would have been John Lennon’s 80th birthday
A Beatles song never heard before by the public will be played as part of a new radio series celebrating what would have been John Lennon’s 80th birthday next month.
New documentary John Lennon at 80 on BBC Radio 2 will see his youngest son Sean speak to his half brother Julian, Paul McCartney and Elton John about his father and his music.
And during their interview, Sir Paul will play a segment of an unheard Beatles track called Just Fun.
In his first ever radio show about his father, Sean speaks to Sir Paul who shares his memories of meeting John and how fortunate it was that they bonded and become arguably the world’s greatest ever songwriters.
Sir Paul, 78, says: “I look back on it now like a fan, how lucky was I to meet this strange teddy boy off the bus, who played music like I did and we get together and boy, we complemented each other!”
What a lovely idea and thing to do. Good for Sean – and good for Paul.
Will we be able to hear this broadcast and the song here in the United States, eventually? Thanks!
