The hotel shut down during earlier hostilities between Russia and the Ukraine
The world has reacted with shock and outrage to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
But what is less known is that the city of Donetsk – in the disputed region of eastern Ukraine – was the unlikely location for a hotel themed around the city of Liverpool and The Beatles.
The Liverpool Hotel was a combined food market, hotel and live music bar. It boasted a statue and a mural of the Fab Four in the reception area, and many of the bedrooms were Beatles-themed.
