A pair of Beatles fans who think of Liverpool as their second home, have recreated the city’s famous Cavern Club in their garden.
Simon and Lisa Wheeldon live on the other side of the country but try to visit Liverpool whenever they can.
A massive fan of the Beatles since childhood, 54-year-old Simon’s love of sixties music led the couple to pay their first visit to the city during Capital of Culture year.
Lisa said: “We first visited about 12 years ago – you just get the vibes in Liverpool, everywhere you go … you just feel like this is where all the sixties pop groups came from.
“We feel like we have come home every time we visit, but what draws us the most, besides your spectacular architecture – especially the Liver Building, which is my favourite building in all the world – the pubs and restaurants and amazing museums, is the one and only Cavern club.”
The couple, who have grown up sons James, 28, and Charlie, 30, love the Cavern so much they have converted their shed into a mini one.
