Exclusive: The Beatles Documentary ‘Get Back’ by Peter Jackson Premieres in London

Peter Jackson’s documentary that spotlights the creation of The Beatles final album, Let It Be, premiered last night in London’s Leicester Square. Titled The Beatles: Get Back, the three-part documentary centres around the making of The Beatles’ thirteenth and final studio album, Let It Be, and the break-up of the band. Among attendees was Paul McCartney, who addressed the audience prior to the preview with a moving speech. He stated, “I do think it shows how we were in the studios and on the roof.” “For me, it’s lovely, because it brings back to me my mates and fallen heroes who aren’t here, so it’s great to see them on the film and to be able to study them. Normally I’m just singing, and I can’t really study them, but with this I can. So, it’s fabulous for me. I love it, I love Peter [Jackson] and all the people involved.” McCartney concluded, “I love the Beatles, they’re a great group.”  As well as showcasing the entirety of The Beatles’ final live performance at London’s Savile Row – dubbed the ‘rooftop concert’ – the documentary covers 21 days in the studio with the band as they rehearse for Let It Be. The preview screening showed just a taster of what will be a six-hour documentary, made from 60 hours of never-before-seen, restored footage.
