Paul McCartney goes birdwatching between gigs to keep entertained on tour

Sir Paul, 76, and his wife Nancy Shevell went to check out the 36 different species living in People’s Park Sao Paulo, Brazil this week. A source said: “It was a wonderful way to chill out.

Paul, who wrote the 1968 ballad Blackbird and later named his band Wings, once said: “I’ve always liked birds. They’re symbolic of freedom.”

He said growing up near the countryside on the outskirts of Liverpool made him “a keen ornithologist”.

The star is also superstitious about magpies. He revealed: “I love it when you see two for joy. I’m very inspired if I see a crowd of eight.”
