Taxi driver reveals £30,000 copy of Lennon’s psychedelic Rolls-Royce which will ferry fans around on a Beatles tour of Liverpool
- Landscape gardener Michael Stopher, 51, bought a Rolls as a wreck for £8,000
- The Beatles fan made a £30,000 copy of John Lennon’s psychedelic Rolls-Royce
- The copy took Mr Stopher five months to paint at his home in Reigate, Surrey
- He is letting former taxi driver Ian Doyle, 53, take tourists around Liverpool in it
ohn Lennon loved telling a story about an elderly woman whacking his Rolls-Royce with her umbrella after he gave the car a psychedelic paint job during the ‘Summer of Love’ of 1967.
‘You swine! How dare you do that to a Rolls-Royce!’ she said, according to Lennon, who had hoped the eye-catching makeover would make a statement to the Establishment.
Now it has inspired a Beatles tour guide to adorn another Rolls with similar dazzling colours and swirling patterns – and he is hoping people will beat a path to his door to enjoy a VIP ride in it.
